John Raymond Foster, age 71 of Centralia, passed away with his wife by his side on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, in Punta Cana, a beautiful place that he viewed as a paradise. He lived each day for the Lord and was ready to go to the One True Paradise.
John was born on June 27, 1952, in Salem, the son of Raymond and Mary Ann (Charlton) Foster. He married Phyllis Fullerton on October 7, 1995, in Centralia and she survives in Centralia.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Jaycie Cason of Centralia and Cris Foster of Nashville, IL; grandchildren, Skyann Cason, Kylie Foster, and Victoria Ocampo; great-grandchildren, Cattaleya Medina, Mateo Medina, and one on the way in April; nephew, Matthew Unsell; brother-in-law, Morris Fullerton and wife Sharon; sisters-in-law, Doris McMullen and husband Steve, Elaine Miller, and Beverly Fullerton; godson, Shamron Ferrell; and several nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. He also enjoyed being with his fur baby, Princeton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, John Cason III; sister, Mary Lynn Unsell; brothers-in-law, Frank Miller and Merle Fullerton; and nephew, Glendell Fullerton.
John retired from Continental Tire after 28 years. Prior to that he worked in retail as a manager with P.N. Hirsch, as a maintenance man for Forbes State Park, and for the railroad. He attended the Foundation Free Methodist Church in Centralia. He was a dedicated Children’s Church teacher, involved with Bible Study, and was a dedicated volunteer for the CCBA Food Pantry. He was a devoted Christian man who walked with the Lord, always willing to help others, and never met a stranger. He loved to travel and enjoyed history. As a person with a universal blood type, he was an avid blood donor and donated extra plasma anytime he had the opportunity. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Funeral Services for John Raymond Foster will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Foundation Free Methodist Church in Centralia with Joe and Wendy Shuffett officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will be in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery in Central City.
