Lola Sligar, 83, of Central City, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2024.
She was born January 24, 1941, in Iuka, the daughter of Earnest Brown and Cora Alice (Watson) Brown. She married John W. Sligar on March 11, 1961, in Waukegan, Illinois and he preceded her in death on November 30, 1981.
Lola is survived by her son: Larry Sligar, Sr. of Central City; seven grandchildren: Tracy Maas and husband Justin of Central City, Talisa Ashby and Jeremy Cook of Olney, Larry Sligar, Jr. and Joyceann Lesperance of Centralia, Lexi Sligar, Laci Sligar, Drew Sligar and Kelsey Sligar all of Centralia; six grandchildren: Morgan Maas, Taylor Maas, Tyler Maas, Amber Ashby, Rance Castellari, and Journey Sligar; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two daughters: Kathy Sligar and Rebecca Eagen, six brothers: Les Brown, Earnest Brown, Jack Brown, Dick Brown, Bill Brown, and Herbert Brown, and three sisters: Rosalee Bundy, Marie Lumpkins, and Polly Burkett.
Lola was an LPN and she worked at Doctors Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Salem from 1985 until her retirement. She was a member of the Centralia Women of the Moose and the Centralia V.F.W. Post 2055 Auxiliary. Lola was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be missed by all her knew her.
A Graveside Service will be held Friday, March 29, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia with Pastor Steve Upchurch officiating.
