A 96-year-old Wisconsin man was pronounced dead in the northbound rest area of I-57 south of Salem Saturday afternoon. The Marion County Sheriff’s Department reports the initial call came in as a man having difficulty breathing. After emergency medical services arrived the man was reported not to be breathing. Other family members with him refused CPR because the man had a no resuscitation order. A deputy Marion County Coroner was called to pronounce the man deceased. The call came in at 1:07 Saturday afternoon.
Wamac Police arrested 34-year-old Brock Linder of South Elm in Centralia on an outstanding Marion County failure to appear warrant on a pending charge of resisting a peace officer with injuries. Bond was set at $25,000.
