Violet R. Turner, 96, of Collinsville, formerly of Centralia, passed away Friday, March 8, 2024 at Liberty Village of Maryville.She was born September 10, 1927 in Pleasant Dale, Nebraska, the daughter of Rev. A.C. Marquardt and Bertha (Ludtke) Marquardt. She married Robert W. Turner on December 5, 1961 and he preceded her in death on October 30, 2003.Violet is survived by her children: Debbie Turner of Centralia, Danette Viviano and husband Vito of Collinsville, and Brent Turner and Julie Bullard of Woodlawn; 7 grandchildren: Kelsey Kickham and husband Dan, Nathan Viviano, Kasey Sterner and husband Jake, Allie Turner and fiance Skyler Barlow, Haileigh Heise, Jessica Keller and Joshua Wood, and Shawn Keller; 12 great- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her bonus family through Gerald Kampwerth.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers: Carl Marquardt and Bob Marquardt, two sisters: Lorene Boehne and Dorothy Meentemeyer, and her companion: Gerald Kampwerth.Violet worked at the Shoe Factory in Carlyle and then worked at Littlefuse in Centralia as a Supervisor until her retirement. Violet was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Centralia for many years. She had a passion for gardening and being outdoors. Violet cherished the time she spent making memories with her grandchildren. She also was an avid talker and enjoyed visiting with her family and friends.A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held Friday, March 15, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia. A Private Family Burial will be held at a later date at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Centralia and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, (618)532-3523, who is honored to be of service to Violet’s Family.
