The City of Centralia has scheduled a public hearing to discuss its intentions to provide a new water treatment plant.
It will be held at two Wednesday afternoon, March 15th, at Centralia City Hall.
Information related to the proposed project consisting of a Project Summary and Preliminary Environmental Impacts Determination prepared by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency is available for review at city hall.
There will be a 10-day comment period subsequent to the public hearing to receive comments from interested parties. Comments may be submitted to the city or directly to the IEPA.
The public hearing is part of the requirements which the city must comply with in order to qualify for a low-interest loan from the IEPA Public Water Supply Loan Program.
Centralia City Manager Kory Smith says there currently is no timetable for the plant’s construction since funding is not in place.
