Herman D. ‘Sonny’ Colclasure, 87, of Xenia, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, February 21, 2024, in Evansville, Indiana.He was born August 13, 1936, in Taylorville, Illinois, the son of Herman Colclasure and Beaulah Francis (Jennings) Colclasure. He married Donna Joan Burroughs on June 1, 1960, and she preceded him in death on November 3, 2017.Sonny is survived by his two sons: Rodney Colclasure and wife Roberta of Lincoln and Tony Colclasure and wife Kandi of Decatur; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one brother: Scott Colclasure of Iuka; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents: Herman and Frances Colclasure, wife: Joan Colclasure, two brothers: David Colclasure and Cheryl Gene Colclasure, and sister: Beverly Pickens.Sonny served in the United States Air Force. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and welder for many years. Sonny enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing or just sitting outside. He also had a passion for fixing and tinkering on things. Sonny cherished the time he spent with his family and friends.Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the New Liberty Baptist Church in Iuka with Pastor Jonathan Timm officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery with Military Honors being accorded at the gravesite by the Salem American Legion Post 128. Visitation will be held Saturday from noon until the time of service at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the New Liberty Baptist Church and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Rankin Funeral Home at 310 North Broadway / P.O.
