2024 02/16 – Matthew Weston Ellis

Matthew Weston Ellis, 39, of Alma, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2024, at St. Louis University Hospital.

He was born July 26, 1984, in Centralia, the son of Charles “Chuck” R. Ellis and Heidi A. (Foraker) Pomeroy. He married Andrea Allison on August 23, 2018, and she survives.

In addition to his mother: Heidi Pomeroy of Carlyle, his wife of 5 years: Andrea Ellis of Alma, Matthew is also survived by his seven children: Gavin Foraker, Rayna Ellis, Ava Ellis, Gunner Ellis, Grayson Ellis, Gaige Ellis and Grady Ellis all of Alma; four siblings: Joseph Foraker of Iuka, Timothy Pomeroy of Iuka, Wendi Pomeroy of Iuka, and Aaron Pomeroy and wife Casey of Weldon; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Matthew was preceded in death by his father: Charles ‘Chuck’ Ellis, step-father: Ferrin Pomeroy, sister: Ashley Raye Ellis, and grandparents: Charles R. Ellis, Violet Ellis, Jack H. Foraker, Sr., and Wanda Hamilton.Matthew worked as a carpenter for many years and he enjoyed working with his hands, whether it was building or drawing. He had a passion for music, he played the piano and guitar. If you knew Matthew, he was known for being a talkative person. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and uncle.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 16, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the Sutherland-Rankin Funeral Home in Salem with Pastor Denise Burke officiating. Burial will follow at Iuka Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Friday at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Rankin Funeral Home 310 North Broadway / P.O.
