The Centralia City Council Monday night will be asked to approve an agreement with the South Central Regional Planning Commission to assist with extension of the downtown TIF District.

City Manager Kory Smith says the TIF is currently scheduled to expire in June 2026.  He notes many notable projects have been made possible in the past to businesses within the TIF.  Smith says new projects are also ongoing and the project area has started to see improvements that make the expansion necessary and beneficial to the attraction of new business and retaining existing businesses in the downtown area.  The cost of the assistance is not to exceed $5,000.   The work will include obtaining the support of the taxing districts and legislators.

The council will be asked to accept a low bid from T and L Contracting to allow another downtown improvement project to move forward.  It would replace concrete and the colored brick paving with four inch stenciled concrete at a cost of $32,040.   The city will provide the concrete, rocks, stencils and wire and the disposal of the old material.  The sidewalks included in the project are the 100 blocks of South Locust and East Broadway and the 200 and 300 blocks of East Broadway.

The council will also be asked to approve a bid for two zero turn lawn mowers for the public property division from Outdoor Power Sales and Service in the amount of $22,650.

A resolution authorizing a mutual aid agreement with the City of Salem Police Department and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office to promote public safety and protect the general welfare of citizens is also on the agenda.   The Salem City Council approved the resolution last week and the Marion County Board is expected to do so at its Tuesday night meeting.

The council will be asked to approve C.J. Schlosser and Company LLC to complete the 2022 audit. Their bid beat the one submitted by the CPA firm that completed last year’s audit.

The meeting begins at six Monday night at Centralia City Hall.
