Elizabeth Rainey Griffin Heyduck, 91, of Centralia, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2024.
Mrs. Heyduck was born in the family’s farm house in Alma Township of Marion County, Illinois to Fred Marion Griffin and Eugenia (Rainey) Griffin on November 20, 1932. She married Donald Dean Heyduck in the Baptist Church in Centralia, Illinois on June 15, 1952. He preceded her in death on August 16, 2014. When she passed, Mrs. Heyduck left behind her children: Wesley Matthew Heyduck of Fairfield and Lynn Ann York of Centralia; grandchildren: Justin York and significant other Shannon Kalmer of St. Jacob, IL, Morgan York of Centralia, Ashley Corners and husband Brent of Centralia; and great-grandchildren: Ella York, Emmerson York, Brylan Jones, Callen Corners, Ava Corners, and Aftynn Corners. Upon her departure, Elizabeth was reunited with her husband Donald Heyduck; parents: Fred and Eugenia Griffin; brothers: Philip and spouse Polly and John and spouse Thelma; six brother-in-laws and their spouses; and two sisters-in-law and their spouses. Mrs. Elizabeth Heyduck lived a long and eventful life. She attended Redlick Grade School and then went on to graduate from Salem High School in 1949. She attended several different churches over the years. Pleasant Grove, Bee Branch Methodist, Lovells Grove Church, and First Baptist Church in Centralia, were the churches she attended in the past. She had a very extensive and impressive working career. From 1949 to 1953, she worked as the Extension Secretary at Marion County Farm Bureau. From 1966 until 1989, she worked in the business offices of Dr. W.W. Davidson, Dr. Pedro Durian, and Dr. J.K. Frost. She retired in 1989 and decided to continue to work at Jeans Uniforms and Famous Brand Shoes. Of her accomplishments, she will be mostly remembered for being a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Funeral Services for Mrs. Elizabeth Heyduck will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia with Pastor Rodger Randolph officiating. Entombment will follow at the Lakeside Chapel in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Visitation will be held before the service in the funeral home on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM. The family would like for any monetary donations made to go to a local group that helps people who are struggling with cancer, therefore they would appreciate it if donations go to Six Lemons.
