John N. Allen, age 77, of Farina, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. The interment will be at Iola Cemetery. John was born on April 13, 1946, in Salem, Illinois, the son of Burl and Virginia (Sprouse) Allen.
He married Linda Fritts on December 8, 1976. John was a member of the Edgewood American Legion Post#1168. He served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1974. He worked in the oilfields and was a truck driver for several years. John and his son Bud owned and operated B&J Lawn Care for 7 years.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Allen of Farina; son, John N Allen II of Effingham; daughters, Melissa Allen of Effingham, Shari Hall (Jim Phillips) of Mason, and Jenita Colclasure (Bart Casseday) of Farina; brothers, Bob Allen of Farina and Bill Allen (Debbie Motte) of Mattoon; sisters, Brenda Sowers (Bruce) of Mason and Joyce Aryes of Caseyville; 7 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Burl and Virginia Allen and son, Gerald “Bud” Colclasure.
