A 21-year-old Kinmundy woman has been arrested by Salem Police for motor vehicle burglary, theft, and criminal trespass.

Katilyn Hollinshead of East 5th was taken into custody at her mother’s home in Kinmundy where the stolen vehicle was also allegedly recovered.

Police report Hollinshead had allegedly first entered a car on the Salem Community Center parking lot during the noon hour on Saturday and stole a pair of shoes.

While another vehicle owner was in the process of moving items in and out of the Community Center for a birthday party, Hollinshead allegedly stole that car.

Hollinshead then went to a relative’s home in Salem and asked them to go to the Community Center to pick up her mother’s car that she had reportedly used to get to the community center.  While police were still on scene, Hollinshead’s relatives arrived to pick up the car.   Their description of the car Hollinshead had arrived at their residence matched the stolen vehicle.

Police also retrieved some video from the area of the community center to allegedly further tied Hollinshead to the case.

Salem Police had Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies go to the mother’s home in Kinmundy to take Hollinshead into custody and recover the car after receiving a call that both Hollinshead and the alleged stolen car were now at her home.

Hollinshead was taken to jail while the car was taken to the Salem Police Department for processing by a detective.
