Salem Township Hospital is getting a new surgeon.

Hospital President Alex Nazarian says Dr. Kevin Claffey will take the place of Dr. Joshua Knolhoff who is moving from the community.

“Dr. Claffey joins us on Feb. 6 and comes highly recommended.  He’s a general surgeon very well known in our community, immediately and also within our county and outside of our county as well.  He’s been practicing at Mount Vernon and Marion as well.  He will be performing similar procedures that Dr. Knolhoff has been performing and patients are already scheduling appointments with him.”

Nazarian says Dr. Claffey came well recommended, including from Dr. Knolhoff.

The Salem Township Hospital Board is getting a new member.  Brian Gansauer of People’s National Bank will replace John Raymer.

The board also reorganized as Sandie Phillips was named the new Chairman, Mark Clark Vice-Chairman, and Susan Knapp Secretary.

Nazarian reported the hospital had a very good top line in December, but increasing costs and pay increases drove the net revenue for the month down to $753,000.
