2024 01/15 – Debra ‘Debbie’ Dianne George

Debra “Debbie” Dianne George, 69, of Centralia, passed away Monday, January 8, 2024, at her home.She was born September 27, 1954, in Centralia, the daughter of Paul Lockart and Betty (Queen) Lockart. She married John George on December 24, 1976, in Centralia and they later divorced.Debbie is survived by her three children: John George II and Kassy Miller of Centralia, Molly George of Centralia, and Emily Bronson and husband Michael of Centralia; bonus kids: Rob Jackson, Jeremy Litvinas and Megan VanDeveer all of Centralia; fur babies: Gertie and Beulah; fur grandbabies: Daisy, Tootsie, and Sammy; two brothers: Jeff Lockart and wife Debbie of Centralia and Eric Lockart of Marion; two sisters: Cheryl Bordewick of Osage Beach, Missouri and Renee Ades and husband David of Fairview Heights; a brother-in-law: Joe Harvey of Noblesville, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents: Paul and Betty Lockart and a sister: Paula Harvey.Debbie worked at Warren G. Murray Center for 37 1/2 years until her retirement. She was an excellent pool player and ran the women’s pool league in Centralia for several years. She was Bingo Chairman at the Centralia Moose Lodge, and coached her daughter’s softball teams. Debbie was an avid reader and a trivia fanatic. She loved to play in trivia contests and would win quite often. She was a member of the Women of the Moose. She was known for being quite crafty and painted many ceramics as gifts for her loved ones.Debbie had a wonderful sense of humor and loved her family. She will be remembered most for that humor and her caring spirit. She could always be counted on as someone who would listen and offer her honest feedback. She always had a joke ready to go for any situation. She cherished the time she spent with her family, friends, and her many four-legged companions over her lifetime.Visitation will be held Monday, January 15, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia. Per Debbie’s wishes, a celebration of life party will be held in her honor at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Washington County Illinois Animal Control and/or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, (618)532-3523, who is honored to be of service to Debbie’s Family.
