2024 02/02 – Linda Wimberly

Linda Wimberly, 73, of Centralia, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Stonebridge Memory Care of Mt. Vernon.

She was born on April 27, 1950, in Centralia, the daughter of Jim Sommers and Camille (Berbaum) Sommers. She married Danny Lee Wimberly in January of 1981 and he preceded her in death on October 16, 2022.

Linda is survived by her son: Shawn Michael Wimberly and wife Robin of Centralia; grandchildren: Maya Wimberly and Jackson Wimberly; three step-grandchildren: Wyatt Fasig, Gabrielle Fasig, and Kevin Fasig; nine step-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law: Diana Langenfeld of Centralia.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Jim Sommers and Camille Sommers and her husband: Danny Lee Wimberly.

Linda worked as a Librarian at Kaskaskia College for 30-plus years until she retired. She was an avid reader. She enjoyed taking golf cart rides with her husband Danny and she also liked taking walks. Linda loved listening to 80s music. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Per Linda’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and Private Family Services will be held at a later date.
