Bill Oller, 81, of Centralia, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.He was born May 24, 1942, in Salem, IL, the son of James and Wanda (Napier) Oller. He married Leona Thompson on May 25, 1974, in Centralia and she survives.Bill has five children, Kristy Claar and husband Jordan, Kevin Oller and wife Alicia, Connie Parker and husband Joe, Ricky Schilling and wife Carla, and Randy Schilling who preceded him in death. He has seventeen grandchildren, Easton Oller, Dayton Oller, Tripp Oller, Creedon McDonal, Addy McDonal, Braydin McDonal, Brooke Oller, Zack Schilling, Cody Oller, Blake Schilling, Lucas Schilling, Joey Parker, Leslie Parker, Lisa Pinkston, Chris Schilling, Michael Hossler, and Jerry Hossler, and fifteen great-grandchildren.He was preceeded in death by his parents, one son Randy, one brother Robert (Bob) Oller, and one sister, Wanda Lappin.Bill worked as a surveyor for the railroad and a general foreman for Rockwell International and later Cambridge for many years until his retirement.Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, training dogs, and breaking horses for riding. In his younger years, he was known as the fastest six-shooter around in pistol and rifle competitions. He was quite the dancer and even won the occasional dance competition. In his later years, he loved the mountains, being at their lake house, and watching Western shows. His true love in life was spending time with his family.A visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, January 2, 2024, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home and Cremation Services at 235 North Sycamore Street, Centralia, Illinois 62801, 618-532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Oller Family.
