Hollie “Ray” Laur, 84, of Bonnie, Illinois, passed away at 3:15 pm on December 25, 2023, at Mount Vernon Health Care Center in Mount Vernon.
He was born September 27, 1939, in Waltonville, Illinois to the late Hollie Haines and Wilma (West) Laur. Ray is survived by his wife, Fae of Bonnie, Illinois; son, Jody Wayne Laur of Woodlawn, Illinois; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his sons, Michael and Steven Laur; daughter, Monica Burgess; daughter-in-law, Connie Laur; brother, Bobby Laur; and brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Irene Sledge.
Ray worked as a truck driver for Direct Motor Freight.
A Visitation will be held Saturday, December 30, 2023, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Newell Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 pm with Reverend Caleb Stroud officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
