Dr. Steven E. Weber, 75, of Estero, FL formerly of Salem, passed away on December 23, 2023. Steven was born on April 1, 1948, the son of Edward and Zella (Ross) Weber of Newton, Illinois, and married his beautiful wife, Becky (Burtch) Weber of Willow Hill, Illinois on July 10, 1970.
He was a proud Eagle Scout and went on to obtain Master’s Degrees in both History and Philosophy from Eastern Illinois University and a Doctorate in Philosophy from Southern Illinois University – Carbondale. Steven served in the US Army during the Vietnam War, 1971-1973, and was stationed at the Adjutant General School in Indianapolis, Indiana as a steno instructor. Professionally, he simultaneously was a planner for the South Central Illinois Regional Planning and Development Commission and a Professor of Philosophy at Kaskaskia Community College.
Steven enjoyed spending time with his friends and family and could often be found sitting on his front lawn or out boating on the lake. He loved mowing the lawn, planting flowers, reading all genres of books, listening to music, weightlifting, and swimming. He made a point to dress fashionably, insert part of his lectures into any conversation, and find humor in everything. He lived and loved hard.
Steven was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Mary Anne Ochs and Barbara (Bobbie) Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Becky, of Estero, FL, son, Jason Weber (Deana) of Salem, Illinois, daughter, Jordan Williams (Paul) of Houston, Texas, and grandchildren, Caleb Weber (Payton) of Charleston, Illinois, Katie O’Neal (Finn) of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, Abram, Audrey, and August Williams of Houston, Texas.
