Peggy Ann Torrence, 82, of Patoka passed away Friday, December 22, 2023, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia. She was born on November 2, 1941, the daughter of Clyde R. and Marie L. (Doolen) Green in Alma. She married the love of her life, Ranny Torrence on April 3, 1958, in Corinth, MS, and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include her beloved family, children, Kelsey (Bob) Larson of Vandalia, Susan Torrence of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Rich (Janette) Torrence of Patoka; grandchildren, Amanda (James) Ford, Caleb Larson, Stefanie (Tyler) Montgomery, Rob (Lindsey) Torrence, and Dylan Adams; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Along with her husband, Ranny Torrence, Peggy was preceded in death by both her parents; her brother, Bob (Edna) Green; and her son, Greg Torrence.
Peggy was a lady of faith and a member of the Patoka United Methodist Church, where she looked forward to worshipping with her church family. She was a wonderful friend and encourager, blessed to meet with ladies she shared a special bond with as they lovingly held their monthly widow’s club get-togethers. Peggy was an avid reader who looked forward to the latest Janet Evanovich novel. She loved her family above all and was so proud of each one of them. Peggy will be remembered as a wonderful, loving, family first lady, a kind listener, a gentle encourager, and a fierce protector.
Funeral Services for Peggy will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at the Patoka United Methodist Church with Rev. Kevin Kriesel officiating. Interment will follow at Patoka City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 until the time of service Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Peggy’s honor to the Patoka United Methodist Church or the Patoka Ambulance Service and will be accepted for the family at Day Macz Funeral Home 234 S.
