Pamela Ann “Pam” (Poston) Kennedy, 68, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 11:40 am December 14, 2023, at her home.
She was born November 11, 1955, in Mobile, Alabama on an Army base to the late Lowell Max Poston and Charlotte Ann (Summers) Poston Davis. Pam is survived by her daughters, Michelle Ballard and husband, Christopher of Eustis, Florida and Meagon Mayo and husband, Nick of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Kaycen Mayo and Cayden Ballard; brother, David Poston of Mount Vernon; sister, Cindy Poston of Mount Vernon; nieces and nephews, Courtney Poston, Kelly Jo Cook, Kristopher Cook and wife, Kim, and Patrick Poston; great-nephews, Shane Smith, Daven Cook, Joel Mellott, and Kolton Cook; her very close friends, Joby Glenn, Lela Pettit, Julie Rednour, and Dean Greenwalt; and her beloved fur baby, Izzy.
Pam worked as a bookkeeper for Thomas Weinberg, M.D., the front-end manager for Martin Foods, and was the owner and operator of her own residential and commercial cleaning business since 1998. She had a huge heart and was known to take in stray dogs and open her home to people in need. Pam loved crime documentaries, thrift store shopping, and spending time with family and friends.
A Visitation will be held Friday, December 22, 2023, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, December 23, 2023, at 10:00 am at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon with Mr. Marty Mills officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon. Memorials may be made in Pam’s honor to the Jefferson County Animal Shelter or Siteman Cancer Center.
