A rural Carlyle man has been sentenced to a total of 44 years in prison after pleading guilty in September to two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault to a victim under 13 years old.

Michael Parker of Sandridge Road received 22-years on each of the counts, with the time to be served concurrently.  Under state statue, he will had to serve at least 85-percent of the sentence with credit for 327 days already served in jail awaiting trial.  When Parker is released from jail, he will be on mandatory supervised release from three years to natural life.

As part of the earlier plea agreement, two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse to a victim under nine years old were dismissed.

The victim’s grandmother provided a written victim’s impact statement while Parker presented a statement of allocution before the sentence was handed down.
