You may notice new equipment at SSM Health St. Mary’s and Good Samaritan Hospital emergency room entrances.

Artificial Intelligence-based touchless weapons detection units, Evolv Express, were recently installed at the emergency room entrances.

The Regional Security Manager at SSM Health Illinois says the installation of the weapons detection systems are additional steps that are being taken in an effort to increase safety and security for staff, patients, and visitors.

Evolv Express spots concealed weapons and other threats using advanced digital sensors and artificial intelligence.   The system is said to be incredibly accurate and can screen up to 3,600 people per hour, ten times faster than traditional metal detectors.  There is no need to empty pockets or remove bags allowing for quick easy access to the emergency departments.   Evolv Express units are used at large venues including Six Flags and SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
