Salem Cross Country Fails To Qualify From Sectionals

Neither Salem cross country team advanced out of the St Joseph Ogden 1a Sectional over the weekend.  The boys were 18th as a team with St Teresa winning the event followed by Tuscola, Newton, St Joseph Ogden, St Anthony in the top 5.  Freshman Robby Shober led Salem finishing 54th in a time of 17:08.10.  He was followed by Hunter Malan 96th, Branson Pappas 108th, Ricardo Salgado 127, Drew Davis 142, Titus Churchill 147.

The Lady Cats were 16th as a team.  Tolono Unity was the champ followed in the top five by Marshall, Robinson, Monticello and Shelbyville.  Salem sophomore Breanna Thurman led the Lady Cats finishing 43rd in 20:26.77.  Kyndall Sturgeon of Odin was 46th followed by Salem’s Macey Thorsen 63, Aila Laird 110, Ivy Donoho 118, Eden Russell 119, Audrey Lybarger 146, Kensey Jarret 147.


COR Sends 2 To State

Christ Our Rock juniors Sarah McKowen and Elijah Gregory are headed to the IHSA State cross country meet at Detweiller Park in Peoria.  Sarah was 10th and the final individual spot on a non-advancing team placing 20th overall.

The boys team had a strong showing finishing 11 out of 21 schools with only 1 senior on the roster.  Elijah joins her as the 9th individual and was 14th overall.
