Two family floats won top honors in the 95th Annual Centralia Halloween Parade. The Harley Queen Trophy was presented to an elaborate float by the Cushman Family honoring the Wizard of Oz. Grand Marshal Patty Williams selected the Timmons Family Spooky Spectacular for the Grand Marshal’s award.
Two other family floats also won trophies. The Boxx Family took first with their entry Charlie Brown Great Pumpkin. The Davis Family’s entry Celebrating 80 Halloweens was second.
In the commercial division, Cat’s Liquidation with their Pumpkin Train featuring multiple scenes took first. Midwest Farm and Land was second.
In the School Division, the Alternative Learning Academy’s entry of ‘It Only Takes One Pumpkin’ was first and the Centralia City School’s Magic School Bus was second.
In the church division, Calumet Street Christian Church with their entry Pumpkin Party was first and St. John’s Lutheran was second.
In the Civic division, the Centralia Youth Center’s Haunted Manor was first and Centralia Usual Suspects/Outlaws/Mad Dogs/Watchmen Motorcycle Groups was second.
In the Marching Unit competition, William Harvey Dance Academy of Indiana was first and Studio 50 was second.
In the band competition, Sandoval High School took first place as well as the Outstanding Auxiliary and Outstanding Drum Line. In the grade school competition, Franklin Park in Salem took first as well as winning Outstanding Drum Line, Iuka was second and was honored for having the Outstanding Auxiliary. O’Fallon took third and won for Outstanding Drum Major.
A nearly perfect weather night resulted in a large crowd lining the entire parade route.
