Wabash Valley College’s Bass Coach, Todd Gill, is excited to announce the signing of Hunter Russell for the 2023–2024 collegiate bass season. Russell signed on Monday evening, October 17th.

Hunter is the son of Mike and Stacey Russell of Salem, Illinois. He is a senior at Salem Community High School and is competing this season on the Illinois Bass Fishing Coaches Association ICASSTT series, the NYFA series, the Major League Fishing High School series, and will possibly compete in some Bassmaster High School events along with other regional tournaments. Hunter has had a solid campaign during his high school years. He was a 2021/22 IBFCA ICASSTT Championship Qualifier, he was a 2022 Southern Illinois All-Stars Classic Qualifier, and finished top 15 at the 2022 IBFCA Clash Championship. His favorite lake to fish is Lake Chickamauga. Outside of fishing, Hunter enjoys hunting and playing golf. Russell is currently planning to major in business management and is excited about his opportunity to be a part of the Wabash Valley College Bass Team.
