The NJCAA Region 24 Championship meet featured the Nationally ranked power house the Heartland Hawks and the Hawks lived up to their rankings sweeping both the women’s 5K and the men’s 8K races with perfect scores. With that being said, the Kaskaskia men and women put together some of their best races of the season.

The meet was held on the campus of Eastern Illinois University, the course is flat and made for fast times.

The KC Blue Angels top two races switch spots from the last race, with Chloe Tepe finishing in 8th place in a time of 22:27, followed by teammate Brooklynn McAllister in 9th in a time of 21:32. Cayla Krueger was 10th in a time of 22:14. Cindy Snyder improves her best time of the year by almost 2 minutes to finish in 22:45. Grace Lauer finished in a time of 23:03. The Blue Angels average time of 22:13 was their best of the season.

The Blue Devils’ Ty Reynolds was with the lead group that passed the first mile in a fast 5 minutes, Reynolds held on to finish in 8th place with a time of 27:24. Nick Fehr was the second Devil to clear the line in 28:37. The other Nick, Nick Zwilling finished in 29:34 with teammate Christian Rees in 29:41, followed by Caleb Klein and Sam Britt. Ostin Habeck was the 7th racer for KC to cross in the 8K race. The men put together an average time of 29:05, their second best of the season.

“Everyone battled out on the course, the efforts were what we wanted to see in the post season, we are very happy with the efforts and are excited about what we can accomplish at the National meet on November 12,” said coach Mike Hargis.
