Centralia City Firemen say a pan of burning food caused heavy smoke to come from a third-floor apartment at the Loepker Apartments, formerly known as the Library Manor Apartments, at 111 South Sycamore on Wednesday afternoon.
Firemen say someone carried the pan outside before their arrival and a water can extinguisher was used to douse the pan. The smoke ejection fan was then used to clear smoke from the apartment.
Firemen report no fire damage to the stove or anything else.
The names of the occupants of the apartment were not immediately available.
The fire call came in around four Wednesday afternoon.
