The Salem Lady Wildcats finished their regular volleyball season on Saturday with a trip to the Fairfield Tournament. In pool play, Salem lost to Hamilton County (20-25, 17-25) and Staunton 25-23, 16-25, 5-15 before finishing up pool play with a win over Herrin 25-21, 13-25, 15-10. Salem ended up in the Bonze bracket playing Benton beating them 25-21, 25-23. They then beat Wesclin in the bronze title match 24-26, 26-24, 16-14.
The Lady Cats will open up regional play tonight as the host. They will play at 7pm against Flora in the 2nd game of the night. The opener at 6pm will see Greenville take on Lawrenceville.
Also today at Mt Carmel it’s Benton and Eldorado followed by the hosts and Harrisburg. Roxana takes on Wood River at Wesclin.
In 1a, South Central is the site as the hosts take on Mulberry Grove followed by St Elmo and CHBC. Christ Our Rock opens at Okawville against Marissa. Carlyle wins their opener at Gibault by forfeit with Lovejoy.
In 3a today at Civic Memorial, the hosts take on East St Louis. Olney hosts Charleston.
