The prep soccer post season continued last night with 1a Sectional Semifinals. At Althoff, Columbia advanced to the finals with a 2-0 win over Father McGivney. They will get the host Crusaders after their 7-0 win over Mater Dei.
Today at Virden North Mac, Newton will take on Sacred Heart Griffin followed by Raymond Lincolnwood against Williamsville.
The 2a regional semifinals were yesterday. At Harrisburg, Waterloo shutout Anna 6-0 and Marion over Harrisburg 3-1. At Mascoutah, the hosts beat Olney 7-0 behind 3 goals from Connor Randel. Nathan Hippard added 2. They will get Carbondale who got goals from Kahlil Oues and Declan Hickman in their 2-0 win over Centralia. At Mattoon, Civic Memorial big over Effingham 8-0 and Mattoon nipped Charleston 2-1.
Today in 2a at Triad, the host Knights take on Highland followed by Alton Marquette and Jerseyville.
