No serious injuries were reported in two wrecks that occurred within three minutes of each other on southbound I-57 in the construction zone at mile marker 109 near the Route 161 interchange. Kell Firemen were called to the first crash where a tow truck ran into the rear of a car. Kell Fire Chief Lonnie McDaneld says one of the drivers was shaken up but refused hospital treatment.
The crash was reported at 6:36 Friday night. The vehicles got off the side of the road causing a traffic slowdown, but it never came to a lengthy shutdown.
Three minutes after the first crash was reported another was reported on I-57 two miles further north apparently as a result of the slowdown from the first wreck. Three vehicles were reportedly involved, but there were no injuries.
State Police handled both wrecks. No further details have been released.
