Kell Fire Chief Lonnie McDaneld says a brush fire was blown out of control into a large pile of firewood Friday night.
The blaze on the Jason Howard property at 199 Myers Road was stopped before it could spread further than the pile of firewood. Flames were shooting 15 to 20 feet in the air when firemen arrived. There was fear the fire might spread into the nearby woods, but it never did.
No buildings were threatened by the blaze. There were no injuries.
Kell Firemen called Salem to the scene for additional water, while Odin stood by the Kell Fire Station in the event of another fire.
The blaze was reported at 9:07 Friday night. Firemen were on the scene until just after midnight.
