Centralia City Schools heard their audit report from Glass and Shuffett on Tuesday night.

Superintendent Craig Clark was pleased with the downward trend for levies and taxes.

“I do like the fact we are seeing a downtrend in our levy rate in our taxes. I’m hoping the community can appreciate the work the board does to try and make sure our local share is something that is tolerable to the taxpayers here.  They can see over the past 5 years it’s dropped over 15 cents and we are still able to maintain the programming for our kids.”

Clark also provided an update regarding the ongoing projects at Schiller school, stating that the multipurpose room now has a roof and will hopefully have the exterior work completed in the next couple of weeks. He reports there are some new projects as well.

“Work at the junior high which will include some sidewalk work, lighting, and awning work.  Wanting to make an area with loading and unloading of busses covered from the weather so students can access them in any weather.”

Clark says the latest iReady testing results show that the district is beginning to gain ground from the damage caused by the Coronavirus pandemic.  He credited the staff’s hard work in helping students learn new material and get to where they should be.
