The Jefferson County Fire Protection District has implemented a burn ban through at least October 11th.
Fire officials say the extremely dry weather has resulted in brush fires getting out of control in other nearby counties and they want to avoid the problem in their fire district.
The burn bans are implemented under ordinance and can result in fines to violators.
The Jefferson County Fire Protection District includes the villages of Dix, Bonnie, Belle Rive, and Ina along with much of the rural area in the county.
