Crossroads Hospital in Mt. Vernon and three other Southern Illinois Hospitals are being acquired by Deaconess Health System, Inc. and Deaconess Regional Healthcare Services of Illinois, Inc.
Deaconess has signed an asset purchase agreement to acquire Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, Red Bud Regional Hospital in Red Bud, and Union County Hospital in Anna.
The Vice President of the Southern Illinois Market and CEO of Heartland Regional Medical Center is excited to join the 130-year legacy of progressive, patient-centered care that Deaconess provides. Ed Cunningham feels the network is a natural fit geographically and strategically.
Southern Illinois Marketing Director Beth Ann Gailey says patients will see no change in operation at Crossroads or the other hospitals.
The purchase, subject to regulatory approvals and closing conditions, is expected to be completed before the end of the year.
The CEO of Deaconess Shawn McCoy says they look forward to further enhancing access to quality care for current and future patients in Southern Illinois. As with other hospitals that have joined Deaconess in recent years, they will maximize the strengths of each organization to enhance the community’s most needed services.
