The Salem Wildcats overcame 2 goal deficits on 3 different occasions on their way to a 6-5 win over East Alton Wood River on the road.
Salem trailed 2-0 in the first 2 minutes of the game before Haden Irvin scored making it 2-1, after another Oilers goal Irvin scored again making it 3-2. Freshman Eli Baker needed 1 goal to tie the single season scoring record of 24 goals set last year by Eli Davis, he got that with 13m left in the first half tying the game at 3-3. Wood River would take a 5-3 lead at the break.
In the 2nd half, Baker would take the goal scoring record with a goal with 17 minutes left to make it 5-4. Caleb Purintun scored with 8 minutes left to tie it at 5-5 and Baker added his 3rd goal of the game with 3 minutes to go from the right side of net to give Salem the win.
The Cats are 9-7-and-2 on the season and will honor their seniors tomorrow afternoon against Newton at FCC Field.
