The Franklin Park Lady Bobcats first trip to state in 19 years came to an end Saturday when they fell in the Class L opening round game to Marion 14-3. Still a great season for Coach Ashley Bolton and the rest of the Lady Bobcats who will only graduate 3 8th graders.
Also in Class L quarterfinals at Centralia, DuQuoin routed Mascoutah 18-8, Carterville came back to beat Waterloo 5-2, Mt Carmel shutout Wolf Branch 13-0.
In Class M softball quarterfinals, Johnston City nipped Sparta 7-6, Smithton over Breese 23-1, Nashville advanced beating Pinckneyville 10-3 and Albion over Goreville 10-4.
In Class S softball state Jonesboro beat Crab Orchard 13-3, Woodlawn over Trinity/St Mary 12-4, St John Catholic beat Elverado 3-1, Okawville beat West Salem 8-1.
