Gas prices in the state of Illinois have continued their decline into September.
GasBuddy’s head of petroleum analysis Patrick De Haan thinks prices at the pump will continue to fall as we head into the winter months.
“I think gasoline prices should continue to cool off. Keep in mind as temperatures cool off so do gas prices. In addition we are going to be making a transition back to cheaper winter gasoline so that should help bring prices down more moderately. We’ve obviously seen a few hiccups but I’m hopeful that as we move towards Halloween and Thanksgiving that gas prices should continue to slowly decline.”
De Haan says average gasoline costs in Illinois dipped under $4.00 a gallon this week.
De Haan says diesel prices have dropped only half as much as gasoline, and he reasons that due to supply and demand issues.
