Salem’s new Police Chief Kyle Ambuehl and Sergeant Tyler Rose were ‘officially’ sworn in at Tuesday night’s City Council meeting.

An informal swearing in took place two weeks ago when former Police Chief Sean Reynolds retired.

Ambuehl says the transition has gone well.

“The one thing about our department is it was run pretty smooth.  Deputy Chief Miller has really helped me out and also working with Chief Reynolds has also really helped me out.  All of our officers and Sergeants do their job and do them well, so it really makes it easy on me.”

Ambuehl says one of the first big projects he has is working with Deputy Chief Susan Miller on a presentation to the city council on new equipment the department needs to meet the state Safe-T act requirements.
