Most government offices closed for Labor Day

By Bruce Kropp Sep 4, 2022 | 1:41 PM

Most government offices will be closed for Labor Day on Monday.  That includes the Marion County and other area courthouses, Salem and Centralia City Halls, and Illinois Secretary of State Drivers license facilities.    While there will be no trash pickup in Salem with pickup running one day late the rest of the week, in Centralia garbage and landscape waste pickup will proceed on the regular schedule.

A full day of activities are planned in Kinmundy for Labor Day, including a 5K run with registration beginning at seven am, a car show from nine to one and other activities in the park from ten to 2:00, chicken dinners at the Lion’s Building from 11 to one, and the parade at two.

Monday is the final day of the first-ever Centralia American Legion Labor Day Fest.   There will be Bingo at six pm and it will be an armband for the carnival from six to ten pm.  There will be plenty of food vendors as well.
