Centralia Manor cut the ribbon officially opening their new Fitness for the Mind Down Memory Lane program Thursday afternoon.
The Administrator of Liberty Village Jennifer Sursa says the program will focus on three areas.
“Exercising your brain, enhancing memory, and helping our residents maintain as much independence as possible. We are focusing on fitness offering cutting-edge rehab services to residents in our community throughout Bounce Back program for 20 years and we are now working through our Fitness Through the Mind program on our Memory Lane which is our area for residents with dementia and other cognitive impairments.”
Sursa says research shows stimulating activities can delay the onset of new dementia problems.
“Our goal with this program is to allow each resident to exercise all their existing abilities and skills regularly so they are able to continue to socialize, participate in activity programs that are important to them, and ultimately helping each person display the best versions of themselves.”
Sursa says their goal is to be able to enhance the memory of each participant.
The Centralia, Salem, and Jefferson County Chambers of Commerce all participated in the ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration that followed.
