The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for northwestern Jefferson County until 2:45 Monday afternoon.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department reported flash flooding issues with between two and five inches of rain Monday morning.  Additional rainfall of half to one inch of rain is possible in the warned area.

Some creeks are out of their banks.   The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department and Centralia Fire Protection District were called at 10:35 Monday morning when a vehicle became stranded in flood waters on North Copple Road southeast of Centralia.

The fire department had been asked to provide a raft but had to decline because they didn’t have one.  In the meantime, neighbors got the man out safely and first responders were waiting on a large tow truck to remove the car.

One of those who lived in the area reported they had received 5 and a half inches of rain from the storm that hung over the Marion-Jefferson County Line for much of the morning.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department reports they have not been called to assist with any other water rescues.

The National Weather Service is reminding everyone ‘turn around, don`t drown’ when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
