A 51-year-old Centralia man has been arrested on a felony drug charge and felony resisting or obstructing arrest following a traffic stop where a Centralia Police officer was injured.

Douglas Johnson of West 7th had bond set at $15,000 following his first appearance in Marion County Court on Friday for possession of 5 to 15 grams of methamphetamine as well as resisting arrest.

Centralia Police say the traffic stop occurred at 12:31 Friday morning in the 300 block of West 7th.  Since Johnson was on parole, police began to search the car.  Johnson attempted to run and was tased.   He was tased a second time before being taken into custody.

Centralia Police report the officer sustained a knee injury during the chase.    The officer was treated and released at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia.

Johnson had the public defender appointed to represent him and a preliminary hearing was set for September 20th.
