The Franklin Park Bobcats won the Greenville Tournament over the weekend with their pair of wins running their record to 7-2 on the season. Salem opened up with a tight 6-4, come from behind win over Mascoutah. Payton Gullion was the winning pitcher going 5.2 of 2 hit ball allowing just 1 earned run while striking out 5. Salem then found themselves in a jam in the 7th with the bases loaded and just one out, but Avery Gullion came in to get the final 2 outs via strikeout to preserve the win. At the plate, Payton hit his first home run as he had 2 hits and 2 RBI. Keytin Grawe doubled home a run, Evan Barnes had 2 hits including a double, Jaret Gibson added an RBI.
Then in the championship Salem left no doubt early in a 17-1, 4-inning win over Roxana. Avery Gullion was the starting and winning pitcher going 2 innings allowing 1 hit and striking out 3. Gibson worked the final 2 innings allowing 2 hits and just one run. At the plate, Grawe hit his first home run as he had 2 hits and drove in 2. Owen Tennyson had 3 hits, 2 doubles and drove in 4 runs, Max Vincent added 2 RBI and doubled with Avery Gullion and Gibson driving in runs. Salem is back in action this week for 5 games, starting this afternoon with a home game against Effingham
The Selmaville Rockets finished 1-1 at the Altamont Lutheran Tournament on Saturday. The Rockets fell to CHBC in the opener 4-3. Logan Butts had 3 hits including a double and drove in 3 runs. Zane Dodson added 2 hits including a double and scored twice with Kai Graham also adding a hit and a run. The Rockets then picked up a win over Central City 7-6. Wyatt McCarty and Riley Tate each drove in 2 with Dodson adding an RBI and Jaxon Ward scoring a run. Brendan Smith worked 3.2 innings allowing a hit and 5 runs with 6 strikeouts. Dodson worked 1.1 innings allowing a run on no hits. The Rockets will host Clay City today at the Complex.
