The retirement of Salem Police Chief Sean Reynolds has resulted in promotions and the hiring of a new patrolman.

Mayor Nic Farley swore in the city’s new Police Chief Kyle Ambuehl.  As a result of Ambuehl moving up to chief, Patrolman Tyler Rose has been promoted and sworn in as a sergeant to replace Ambuehl.  Rose has been with the Salem Police Department for just under five years.

Rose’s promotion has led to the hiring of a new patrolman to replace him.   Sarah Dice was sworn in as a new patrolman.   She is from Salem and is currently a member of the Salem Fire Protection District.   Dice is a Kaskaskia College graduate and is attending SIU-Edwardsville.   She will begin the police academy on August 30th and will join the department in December.  Dice will remain on the fire department but will have to take a leave of absence during her training and probationary period.
