Coach Travis Mulvaney and the SC Falcons baseball team are off to a 3-0 start.
After opening their season with a pair of wins at the Greenville Tournament beating the hosts 4-3 and Nokomis 10-0, SC then knocked off Beecher City yesterday 11-1. In the win, Colton Cartright drove in 3 runs with 2 RBI each from Sebastian Kruger and Kaiden Harrell. Luke Shumate and Ryker Dodson also added RBI. Garret Shumate was the winning pitcher striking out 10 in 4.2 allowing 1 hit and 1 run. Cartright came in and got the final out with a strikeout.
SC opened the year at the Greenville Tournament beating the hosts in the opener 4-3. SC held off Greenville who plated 2 in the seventh inning. Luke Shumate went 6 innings allowing 2 hits and 1 run with 12 strikeouts. At the plate, Luke drove in 2 going 3-4 on the day, Harrell and Kruger also drove in runs. Garret Shumate had 3 hits including a pair of doubles and Cartright went 2-3. Ryker Dodsdon added a hit.
SC beat Nokomis 10-0 in five innings plating 8 runs in the 2nd. Harrell drove in 4 runs going 3-3 with a double. Garret Shumate had 2 hits, 2 runs and 2 RBI with Kruger and Cartright also driving in runs. Luke Shumate went 2-3 with 2 runs scored, Ryker Dodson singled as well.
