Kinmundy Mayor Angie Diss provided an update to the Board of Alderman Thursday night on the timetable for the opening of the new Dollar General Store slated to be built in Kinmundy.

She reported the store is shooting for an April opening date.   Plans are currently being finalized for the store that will be located on Route 37 near Cherry Street at the north entrance to the city.  Diss says the city still needs to work out details on how the store will be supplied with water service with a potential cost of up to $60,000 if the main water line is extended to the store.   She is concerned with the lack of sidewalks on Route 37 on the north side of town and would like to install them, but they are looking at another $60,000 cost to do so.

No decisions were made at the meeting.

The board accepted the resignation of Third Ward Alderman Tony Wimberly.    He did not specify a reason for his resignation.   Mayor Diss is welcoming anyone in Ward Three who wants to fill the seat to contact her.   An appointment could be made at the September meeting.
