William Gene Hester (known as “Bill”), 88, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2023, after being released for hospice care to his home in Bandon, Oregon.
Bill was born Aug. 31, 1934, in Alma, Illinois where he excelled in
basketball and football before joining the Air Force, stationed at Greenland and Johnston Island in radio operations. After many travels, he settled and raised a family in Riverside, California, was employed in real estate, and operated a successful bicycle shop before retiring to paint, golf, and enjoy the idyllic Oregon coastline.
Bill is survived by his children Michelle, Brian, and Greg Hester and his extended family Becky Jones, Mary Cessna, and Linda Beard Ross.
No funeral or memorial service is immediately planned as his ashes will be scattered among his favorite spots following his stay at Amling-Schroeder Funeral Services in Bandon, Oregon. Online condolences may be left at michelle.mari.hester@gmail.com.
