Rain caused havoc at the Great Lakes Senior Legion Regional yesterday in Midland Michigan. The first game of the day was completed as Illinois State runner up Moline defeated Wisconsin State Champion Eau Claire 3-2. Braden Thatcher scattered eight hits in the complete game win and Robert Woods had 2 doubles to lead Moline which scored all 3 of their runs in the opening inning.
Aviston had their game suspended with Manitowoc Post 88 of Wisconsin to today with the Express leading 3-0 in the bottom of the 4th inning. Aviston scored a pair of runs in the opening inning and then got a 2-out RBI single from Conner Freeze to make it 3-0. They will resume that game at 9am this morning.
Following that, the other 2 first round games will be completed with Muncie Post 19 of Indiana taking on Gladwin County Post 171 of Michigan and then Yeager Benson Post 199 of Ohio will take on the hosts Midland Post 171.
Today at 1pm Eau Claire will take on the loser of Muncie and Gladwin City. Then the loser of Aviston/Manitowoc will play the loser of Yeager/Benson and Midland. That will be followed by Moline taking on the winner of Muncie and Gladwin City and then the Aviston winner will play the Yeager/Midland winner at 7:30 tonight.
