Monday is Kids Day at the Marion County Fair.
Ag in the Classroom Teacher Meggan Heistand is coordinating the many activities planned for kids of all ages free of charge from nine am to two pm.
“We have several fun activities planned. A day on the farm. Kids can pick apples, collect eggs, dig for potatoes, milk cows, or even a real goat. Antique Power Club will be open to corn shelling and rope making. All the 4H animals will be on display. Starting at 10 we will have the merry-go rides. Lunch will be a hot dog, chips, and water. We will also have ice cream for the kids and draw for winners of a boy’s and girl’s bike.”
Heistand says Ag in the Classroom will sponsor a new feature…Spin to Win. Whatever animal the spinner points to will get a prize out of the box labeled for that animal.
The University of Illinois will have a Bug, Beetles, and Butterflies display. Kids will also get a chance to sit on a tractor. In all, there are 45 sponsors for this year’s event.
The grandstand entertainment at the fair Monday night is the ITPA tractor pull. Classes will be the 8500 limited pro stock, light modified, pro stock, and 9500 limited pro stock. Reserved tickets are $15, General Admission $12, and Pit Pass $20.
