The Marion County 4H large animal shows culminated on Sunday with the Super and Junior Showmanship Awards.

The winner of the Super Showmanship Award was Maddox Robb who competed in the competition for the second time and is a seven-year 4H member.

“I always show cows so I was pretty comfortable doing that.  Showing the pig I was pretty nervous because I’ve only done it one-time last year.  I usually show sheep so I was comfortable with that but knew I had some good competition going into it.  You have to stay calm really because you get worked up then they get worked up and that’s not a good deal when it happens.”

Robb says he’ll most likely participate in the statewide competition later this month. The runner-up was Jonathon Wilkins.

For the first time, a Junior Showmanship competition was held among the junior and intermediate showmanship candidates.    The winner was Elias Mullinax. The reserve winner was Alexsys Hammond.

The 4H tractor driving contest was also held on Sunday. The winner was Jacob Hilmes who also earns the right to advance to the state competition.
