Janet Sue Boswell passed away on July 19th, 2023 at her home in Centralia, Illinois.
She was born June 28th, 1939 in Centralia, Illinois to Gerald and Velma Williams. She was a graduate of Centralia High School, and later graduated Julia F. Burnham School of Nursing. She married Dee C. Boswell on August 28th, 1960.
Sue was the mother of Julie, Nancy, and Danny Boswell.
Sue was a Registered Nurse and worked in Obstetrics and Delivery, Intensive Care, Medical Surgery Nursing, and Drake Chronic Disease Hospital in Cincinnati. She was very active in the Girl Scouts and chaperoned a group of scouts to Switzerland and France. She was president of the Shaqbark Council of Girl Scouts, active in the United Presbyterian Church, parks committee of the City of Centralia, and camp nurse at Camp Carew. She taught the high school class at the Presbyterian Church. She and her husband, Dee, were very active in Rotary and attended numerous overseas Rotary events, including polio immunization in India and Nigeria. Dee and Sue had friends all over the world and were fortunate to visit with them in their homes. They hosted numerous Rotary Exchange Students and numerous other foreign visitors in their home. Sue had a large family and loved them all.
She was preceded in death by her mother Velma (Shorty); her father Gerald (Rob); two brothers; a sister; a daughter, Nancy Van Dillen; and her son Danny Boswell.
Sue is survived by her husband Dee; a loving daughter, Julie Boswell and her husband JonDarr Bradshaw; son-in-law Tom Van Dillen; two sisters, Anne Deley and Karen Phelps; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.Sue was known as being a lovely lady throughout her whole life. She will be missed by many.
Per Sue’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A graveside service will be held for Sue on Tuesday, July 25th, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 2500 Old 51 Road, Centralia, IL 62801. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the charity of choice and will be accepted at Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home, 235 North Sycamore Street, Centralia IL 62801. Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home is honored to be of service to the Boswell Family.
